Default Calling abroad with Vodaphone

I live in France but as I often travel to the UK I'm thinking about
buying a Vodaphone pay as you go Sim card. I've looked carefully at
the call charge information but couldn't find how much it costs to
phone France from the UK. Can any Vodafone users help me?

3 clicks form vodafone.co.uk took me to

I had the same problem a few weeks ago with Vodafone - their web site will
quite happily tell you how much it costs abroad but UK to abroad seems to be
missing - I eventually called 191.

I found out the costs were so high I've now ported to Tesco mobile - 20p a
minute to the most popular countries.

Also take a look at Mobile World (from Carphone Warehouse) and O2,
with int'l option added on - 7 pence a minute on either of them

MW has a shorter validity period of 90 days if you don't use it, can
be reconnected though, but I think they charge a fee

Thanks for your answers, but I prefer one of the majors as I want to
be able to manage my line from France easily via the Internet. I don't
make a lot of calls, so can put up with a high price per minute. I
would like first to be sure that I'll be able to call France from the
UK, and can anyone tell me what the price per minute (approx) is,
rather than just saying it's expensive?

Which says nothing about the costs of calling abroad from the UK.

You're probably best using a callthrough on an 0845/0870 number, or even better the
one that was advertised here a while ago on 01635 578562 (then you can use stop the
clock), not tried it so don't know if it works.

you can top up online on O2, or call free and use your credit card

vodafone's international calling is very expensive, around 70p a min i
think? they dont seem to want to give this info

Orange has much lower rates which you will receive automatically i.e. no
bolt ons or extras to apply.

Pay as you go calls to france- 25p a min

Depends on the OP's calling pattern - using a geographic (or mobile type number)
callthrough she could get an *hour* for 30p off-peak using Vodafone stop the clock.

In fact, the big advantage of Vodafone for me is that I can if
necessary use sfr cards to topup while in France if necessary. You
seem to need a UK credit card to top up a lot of the networks and mine
is French.
