Default Calling your own number

I noticed if I call my own number that my phone displays "LINE 1" as
though I had that stored in my phone book. This is on T-Mobile.

Could this be some kind of fix for the Voicemail CLID problem? Some
way of identifying if the caller ID is genuine?
