can I use M2 memory card to transfer SMS from SE k800i to a PC?
Dear list members,
I would like to archive SMS on my SE k800i. Unfortunately, my
attempts to sync the k800i with my PC have yet to succeed (I can only
attach the k800i in 'file transfer' mode).
I am therefore looking for a plan B. Is it possible, for example, to
transfer SMS to the PC by an M2 memory stick? Could I do so to a
Bluetooth device?

I would also recommend float's mobile agent. It is by far the best
software (and it is free) for synchronizing sony ericsson phones.
Re: can I use M2 memory card to transfer SMS from SE k800i to a PC?
Thank you Jon, Dave and Chris.
I've installed floAt's Mobile Agent, which seems a beautiful piece of
software: rapid installation, very information user interface.
However, I still am unable to properly connect my handset to the PC.
Attaching the handset by USB cable triggers the "found new hardware"
icon. I am then given a number of error messages indicating an
inability to load the installer for modem and ports for the 039 USB
WMC modem and a few other components.
This is the same problem that I encounter with only PC Suite
installed. (I can connect in 'file transfer' mode with PC Suite.)
In trying to troubleshoot this, SE have mentioned software interaction
possibilities, including with MS ActiveSync. However, these problems
persist even when I have uninstalled ActiveSync. Otherwise, I'm just
using MS Windows Defender, McAfee VirusScan, and Firefox's internal
pop-up blocker.

Those drivers are on the CD that came with your phone.

Disable them all, or use a different PC if poss. Float works, and is
actually easier to connect using bluetooth if that's an option you have.

Re: can I use M2 memory card to transfer SMS from SE k800i to a PC?
Thanks again to all: in the end, I've connected the SE to another PC:
not my preferred choice, but I had almost run out of memory and needed
to get the SMS' off. This gives me more time to try to understand the
software interaction problems.
