Default Cost to call 101

I'm informed that no call to 101 will cost more than 15p, even from a
mobile.

Can anyone disprove this?

Not me, I can see the figure of 10p bandied around, but that's mainly in
five year old documents, knock yourself out trawling through them ...

After about 3 hours of trawling, I've found several examples of what the
home office wants, and no definitive this is what it will be.

Time to contact OfCom and ask I guess. Hopefully their denial of
responsibility will point me in the direction of the relevant authority
to ask.

I have read that it will be a flat rate of 15p per call.

In Wales it used to be 10p - but went up to 15p a call recently.

Yes, I found a publicity pack PDF on the HO website that's intended for
police forces that states 15p / call.

eg:

<url:http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publica...non-emergency-
resources/launch-toolkit?view=Binary>

On page 6, which is page 4 in the index after the front cover and TOC.

Also the police.uk website states this:

http://www.police.uk/101

"What does it cost to call 101?

Calls to 101 (from both landlines and mobile networks) cost 15 pence per
call, no matter what time of day you call, or how long you are on the
phone."

Now all I need to do is find a mobile company that charges it
incorrectly.

That is certainly what is *supposed* to happen. Cynics like me won't be
convinced that that's what *actually* happens until a few people have
produced some concrete evidence.

Yep, hence my starting the discussion - I was given the same statement by
Kent Police on facebook when I pointed out that calling from landline or
mobile a real geographic number could be cheaper depending on operator,
package, free minutes, 1899 etc.

Granted 15p isn't too bad compared to standard call fee of 12p/minute on
Asda mobile, but I may need to test before I'm convinced they're charging
it correctly.

Just out of interest, will you still be charged a call set up fee (eg
BT) on top of the 15p?

If I make one, and it gets charged at silly cost per minute, then I could
spend as much on one call as I'd normally expect to spend in a year.

ASDA mobile is 10p/minute according to their web site - where did you get
12p?

Hmm, I have a recollection that it went from 5p/text 10p/minute to 6p/
text 12p/minute, but I see it's 6p/text 10p/minute ....

Guess I misread something or summat.
