Default Definition of small according to Tesco

Tesco Mobile have apparently just redefined the word small.

The other day I received a text message saying I can now have 5 favourite
numbers instead of 3 and to ring 2710 for more details.

So I ring the number and get a cheery message telling me yes, as from 7th
July I can have 5 favourite numbers at half price instead of three. Good
oh, thinks me. Then at the end they say in order to pay for all this they
are making a "small increase" in the minimum call charge, which will now
be 10p.

Hmm. As the current minimum is 5p, this "small" increase is, in fact, a
100% increase. A strange definition of small.

They've been learning from Orange how to redefined the meaning of
improvement

3 is another one, they've improved 3 PAYG stretch to 200 less 3 to 3 mins
per month

They have all lost Hans Snooks understanding that if you are generous
to your customers, in the long run they will be generous back.

All pettiness achieves is increased churn from disgruntled users

The problem is that consumers can be pretty lazy.

I'm on tesco extra, but not sure if that 'improvement' will affect me
much. That said, I think I'll need to get a contract soon (for data,
really) so will dump them in a shot.

.... and if the value tariff provides all you need, this increase is the
only "benefit" you get :-(

Are you sure? This webpage says it's 8p min, and obviously it hasn't been
changed to 10p yet:

Maybe that's why they made it so difficult to switch to Value Tariff.
When I wanted to, I discovered that despite what they say, you can't do
it online: you have to phone up and ask them to switch you over.

Hmm, I stand corrected, you're right, just made a short test call. I was
looking at the booklet of charges I got with the SIM card, must have been
an old print..!

Looks like they are back to offering a single tariff for new
customers.

Remains to be seen if you can still switch via phone as you can only
change to topup with £15 in a month for either 500 UK texts or 150
minutes online now.

The website revamp is also making me ill.

Sam.
