Can anyone tell me, is there a way to delete the voicemail "spool" symbol
from my Nokia 6310i without having to call up and listen to the message..?
The reason is that I just missed a call, I saw who it was from by the
caller ID, I was half expecting the call and pretty well knew what they
were calling about so I rang them straight back, unfortunately in the
meantime they'd left a message.
I don't need to listen to the message, as I know what it's about, but I do
want to get rid of the spool symbol without having to pay 10p/min for the
privilege of listening to a message I don't need/want to listen to.
The network is Tesco PAYG (with the spool symbol set as the alert option
rather than the default SMS message).

Should disappear once the voicemail service deletes the message off
their system, may take a week or 3, depending on how long the system
keeps messages for.

I know that, I was just wondering if there was a way to get rid of it
sooner, in case I get another message and aren't immediately alerted to
it.

Ring up your voicemail centre from someone elses phone, access your
mailbox, delete the message.

No, there isn't.

Can you not delete the message without having to listen to it all? Come
on Ivor, don't be tight. We're talking about probably 2 or 3 pence.

I think OP means that the option to delete does not kick in until the
message ends and he has heard it all. How much it costs depends on how
long it lasts doesn't it but I'd agree it won't cost much ...even at
10p a minute .

Is 1 used for 'listen' on all the networks?
Is 3 used for 'delete' on all the networks?
I know this is true for Orange, but don't know if this is a universal thing.

I remember when I had my Nokia 3210 there was a message you could save to
the phones memory and when it was sent to another Nokia the voicemail as
well as others would light up and the recipient unable to turn them off.

This is pretty standard Unisys usage, so you'll find it in the UK on
Orange and BT. All operators tailor their menus, of course, but the
basics often derive from the underlying platform.

I'd expect any decent voice response sytem to allow 'barge-in' where
appropriate; i.e. the ability to enter a selection without hearing the
entire prompt or message.

I remember an occasion when someone inadvertently called me and left a
message .It sounded like a guy in a shop or office and it went on for
quite a number of minutes and all i could hear were people talking in
the background and I did try everything to delete it during the
message but I had to wait until it ended and I was given the options
..Can't remember what Newtwork it was..could have been BT Mobile .
