Default Drowned iPhone problems

My iPhone 3GS got well soaked in the rain the other week whilst out
cycling and after drying out and resetting, seemed on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, it's never regained its voice. Namely it won't ring on
incoming calls and the unlock and keyboard clicks have gone. It's quite
capable of making noises however and playing ringtones.

A bit of googling suggested it might be a problem with the mute switch and
this cable

but replacing it has made no difference.

Any suggestions?

Tim

The part was reassuringly cheap. Pity it didn't fix it.

Nature's way of telling you to get an iPhone 5?

Well I replaced the above mentioned cable but no joy. A bit more googling
suggested that it's more likely to be the main docking connector that's at
fault. It's costing the princely sum of £4.56 including postage so I'm not
giving up yet!
