I had a similar problem and they said the quoted time was for 60-90
days, however I could phone back in a month to see how the investigation
into the messing cheque was progressing. Less than a month later (today
in fact) I received the reprinted cheque
I guess it's about not falsely raising your hopes, which is fair enough.
