Since joining 3 my wife & I are receiving frequent SMS messages from 3
encouraging us to go online with the phone. Sometimes we each get 3 of
the same message in a day. At first these messages seemed useful as they
informed us of features that might be useful. Now, they're just plain
annoying.
Presumably these messages are designed to increase our spend but we have
mobile phones in order to communicate with people we wish to and have
them contact us - not so that we can receive advertising from 3.
Is there a way to get 3 to stop sending them? (Or to block the phone
from receiving them???)
With Orange I just used to forward them to 7726 (the spam texts from
Orange themselves too) but that obviously isn't an option with 3.

And, as I said yesterday when you asked the same question:
YOU CAN TURN THEM OFF ON THE 3 WEBSITE.

I'm fairly sure he's trolling - each and every message has very clear
instructions.
For the hard of reading, I'll repeat them here:
"If you'd prefer not to receive further messages, just send an email
to preferences @ 3mail.com quote your three phone number in the body
of the email and type 'opt out mms' in the header".
Probably took him about 20x longer to type the question (twice!) than
to just do that
Also, he COULD try the standard word "STOP" in reply to the message...

Mucho apologies - Claranet's newsserver (which I pay for) seems to be
playing up - neither my original post nor any follow-ups appeared here
after 12 hours. Having switched to (the free) news.aioe.org this morning
I have received everything.

Nope.

You read to the end of each & every spam message you receive? Wow, you
must have time to waste.
An honourable company, which I'm increasingly thinking 3 isn't, would
offer an opt-in option *not* an option to opt out.

"in *the* header" ? - I'll try it in the Subject header.

You prefer to waste our time?

Errrrm no, but I take your point. I didn't really expect the spam to
have info on how to stop receiving it.

Then go to the 3 website and turn them off.

I've sent the emails as suggested by Lardboy. No response received from
3 but time will tell whether the messages will stop - no more received
yet. Thanks for your suggestion too.

It wasn't a suggestion - you asked how to turn them off, I told you.
ON THE 3 WEBSITE.
If you're going to ask for advice and then ignore the 100% correct and
simple answer when it's given I don't know why you bothered to ask for
help.
I didn't think you were a troll at first but you really are.
