Default K750i and MP3 albums..

Hi - I have a 4gb card for my K750i and transfer whole albums from my
library - is there a way to get those albums to come up as "playlists" -
it's a real pain at the moment to create a new playlist everytime I copy new
albums or change albums ( I place album folders in "sounds" as "mp3" folder
just creates individual tracks which becomes a very large mess)

TIA

No experience of your phone, but my N70 (and palmpilot) works a treat providing
the MP3 tags are right. The filename is irrellevant.

Im guessing that the K750i uses the same memory as te K800i, Memory Stick
Micro M2. Where did you get a 4GB card, im looking around and all I can find
is 2GB cards. Can you remember where you got yours from?

hi Phil - would you detail your procedure for transfer to phone? i.e a have
a folder called " Bob Dylan-Modern Times" (that shows how old I am), that I
drag into MP3 folder - it shows the 12 songs that are inside the folder but
not the album/folder. If I then drag in "Bob Dylan-Highway 61 revisited" all
the mp3's show but now inseperable from the previous songs. What am I doing
wrong?....

I just copy the files into the audio folder on the MMC card. I don't bother to
put the files in folder (although I could). MP3 playing software doesn't use
filename or folder names to organise the files. The file names can be absolutly
anything, other than they must be unique.

What counts is the ID3 tags contained within the mp3 files, when you rip your
albums make sure your PC is connected to the net and that your ripper is using
a cddb source to get the track names etc from the net, otherwise you will have
a lot of typing to do.

You can also get tag editing software which can put tags in later if they are
not already done.

Thanks Phil - I'm probably (definitely) still not explaining myself
properly. All my "albums" are in Folders and properly tagged (in itunes as
it happens) - I'd like to be able pick an album from the "media player" on
my phone. The only way I can do this as far as I can see is to make a
playlist, call it the name of artist and album and then "add" the folder
that appears in sound media (dragged over from itunes store). This works but
is just a bind!

any further thoughts?...

I use the sony software supplied with the phone "disc2phone" it transfers
the albums (only via usb) as folders to a new folder on the phone labeled
"music" not to the mp3 folder. Select new playlist and tick the folder you
want then select add.

Sorry, I can't help anymore. I have never used a that type of phone and was
assuming it would work the same as the mp3 players on my n70, pc and PDA.

Hi

The way I used to do it on my w810i (which is the same as k750i) is to
make sure your music is in the following structure in the mp3 folder:

Artist > Album Name > tracks

So say you have Bod Dylan's greatest hits you need to make sure when
you copy the album across to the mp3 folder on your memory stick you
have a top level folder called Bob Dylan then when you click on this
another folder called greatest hits and then when you finally click on
this you have all the tracks.

This way the sony ericsson sees both artists and albums. This is all
the disc2phone software does btw - transfers music in this structure.

If you do as above all will work fine!

Andy

Hi. I've no actual experience with "phones" or "computers" or "mp3s"
but if it works anything like my kettle, you simply have to fill it
with water, switch it on, then while you wait, find a mug and pop a
teabag in. This allows you to simply interface the boiled water with
the mug, and the teabag should be automatically found and you'll see
it appear as "tea" - I usually add a small spoonful of honey and some
milk, after I've hoisted the brewed teabag out. Sorry to not be of any
more help, if your K750i doesn't work the same way but what would I
know.

Still not right but better than before!
One last try - my objective is to drag a folder called "the band" containing
2 folders nested called "the last waltz disc1" and "the last waltz disc2"
each containing some mp3's to somewhere on my 4gb card (music? mp3 -
elsewhere?) and then go to media player on the phone where the folder "the
band" will instantly be showing, which when clicked will show the folders
"disc1" and "disc2", which when clicked will show the tracks which can then
be played sequentially or shuffled. If I were to have clicked on "all music"
those tracks would have been difficult to find if not impossible! I don't
think I shoul;d have to make a new playlist and label it with my thick
fingers and then go find it, mark it and add it - seems horribly clumsy...

It's interesting? to note that under "sounds" in the folder management on
the phone, the music folders appear exactly as desired BUT you can only play
one track at time (ok don't laugh) rather than sequentially or shuffled.

If it wasn't so incredibly UNimportant I'd go make a cup of tea as suggested
by Ian but I hate giving up...

cheers
