My guess would be that they are reselling Celtrek judged from the
nearly identical (other than the higher prices) "rate calculators".

I don't know about this part. EU SIM cards often have pretty good
roaming rates in the EU these days, but the other two services have
some nice prices in Asia and Latin America where the prices charged
by UK operators are often outrageous. My benchmarks are Costa
Rica, Japan and Korea since I visit these sometimes and local phone
service options are either unattractive or nonexistent. Since the
US dollar is becoming valuable again, Maxroam is beginning to look
particularly attractive.
