Default Merging of T-Mobile and 3UK 3G networks

The announcement yesterday of a 3G network merger looks like good news for
the user. No mention seems to be made of timescales, though. Any
thoughts/comments from the experts?

Paul

They're not merging networks -- they are sharing the radio-portion of
masts in particular locations. For example, say T-Mobile have poor
coverage in a particular location but Three had an existing mast --
they could enable that mast for T-Mobile customers (once T-Mobile
provided the appropriate back-haul).
