Default Mio A701?

Anyone tried a Mio A701 phone/pda? I want to use it as an everyday phone
plus have TomTom6 on it for those times when you just can't do without!
Before I commit such a lot of hard earned.....can anyone put me off or
help me to decide to go ahead?

OR

Are there any better alternatives at a similar sort of cost??

All advice gratefully received.

Jim

Possible alternative - O2 XDA Orbit? (T-Mobile equivalent of this
doesn't look as good IMO and has wifi disabled).

O2 XDA Orbit has a fairly slow processor, but this is not an issue for
everyone.

P.S. There's a review of the O2 XDA Orbit on www.filesaveas.com

Hi

I've had one for over a year now. Best phone I've ever owned but
probably superceded now by Glofiish and Asus P535 which have built in
wifi and possibly nicer cameras. Have a look on
http://www.miousers.co.uk/ if you're after more info.

It's a fine phone (what isn't?) and the GPS works beautifully.

I have had the Orbit for over a month. Minor niggles are that you may
need to put some paper inbetween the cover and battery to force it
against the connections inside. Once done I have had no problems.
Not used TomTom but Co-pilot has worked correctly everytime I needed
it.
Have an issue over trying to work out why I can't answer calls
sometimes. not bottomed it out yet, it may be when connected to power
or something !!
All in all I will definately get another when due for an upgrade so I
can give to a friend.
Don't use a lot of the applications they all seem pretty good. Have
used WiFi to browse internet and chat on MSN - all OK.
Fitted 2GB micro card and plys bridge , chess etc, no problem
plays MP3 fine but video a little jerky at times, but acceptable as
screen can be turned around if required.

I've just upgraded to an HTC Trinity/P3600/Orange SPV M700

They don't make a big thing about the GPS, but with a small registry
change, the GPS settings applet can be found.

Then, I installed Orange SatNav demo and got that working but it uses
downloaded each time maps.

So installed a developer copy of destinator 6. That took a couple of
reboots to get it to even detect the antenna was installed and active,
but when it did, I was getting a 6 satellite lock inside the house.

TomTom should work just as well, and all I need is a decent sized card
to install it on.

Beware, early P3600s did't have the GPS enabled ROM installed, and only
CID unlocking, and flashing the asian DOPOD brand ROM made it work.

Orange put the leaflet for their SatNav trial in the box of the M700 as
well.
