Anyone any thoughts on the best solution to enable remote users to
connect to their Exchange 2003 SP2 mailbox?
Using Exchange's built-in push email with a phone running Windows
Mobile or Nokia E series is the cheapest option. However, battery
life on Windows Mobile devices concerns me and goes some way to
negating the familiar look and feel that Windows Mobile offers. On
the other hand, the Nokia E series, which gets away from Windows
Mobile battery life issue, doesn't integrate quite so well with
Exchange.
Next cheapest is Vodafone Business Email. Requires extra software
(Voda use the
www.visto.com product) and a server to run it on, but
compatible with lots (100+) phones. The server doesn't connect to the
mobile devices but to Voda's network ops centre, so the server can be
put behind the corporate firewall - a reassuring security benefit.
Finally, Blackberry. The most expensive but nobody will get sacked
for buying it.
