Motorola Razr v3i locking?

My wife has just got one of these and even though it is a clam phone there
is one external key that changes the ring/silence option and in her pocket
it can easily get depressed and change into silent only mode. Any way the
phone can be easily locked without having to go into menus every time?

That's partially incorrect. Had the same frustration with my V3 (and another
model before that).

What you have to do is to lock the settings applet so that it will ask for
the unlock passcode. To do this:

- go to the SETTINGS option in the menu
- select SECURITY and the choose LOCK APPLICATION
- scroll down though the applications until you find the SETTINGS applet in
the list
- change this to LOCKED
- select DONE

This will stop the external buttons changing the ring styles.
