Default My Nokia n95 arrives tomorrow

After being part of some of the discussions on here over the past 2
weeks about the n95 I decided I'd order one to replace my Nokia e61.

T-Mobile Flext 35 + Web n Walk = £42.50/mo from MobileShop.

2G coverage around my home is excellent according to T-Mobile's
website, as is 3G (There's a T-Mobile mast about 2 minutes walk from
me).

Around my places of work 2G is excellent, but 3G is shown as 'no
coverage' at one of the buildings but I'm aware of it.

I've been a T-Mobile customer before and haven't had cause to
complain.

My only question is: When I'm outside of 3G coverage how does Web &
Walk work? On my 3UK Nokia e61 when it's outside of 3 coverage I can
still use t'internet but at 2G speeds at no extra cost.

That's what I'd hoped. I'll find out tomorrow if T-Mobile remove VOIP
services from their handsets.

"2G" is not "WAP". WAP is a term loosely meaning "mobile internet". 2G
and 3G are different types of mobile phone network. You can use "WAP" on
2G and 3G networks, but in a 3G coverage area and with suitable
equipment the delivery of the "WAP" from the servers to your phone will
be substantially faster than when in a 2G area.

if they have, just update with generic nokia firmware

network branding causes ALOT of problems on nokia handsets.

Which is also wrong.

Perhaps you misunderstand. WAP is the internet on your phone broadly
speaking. It doesn't matter weather you are using 2G or 3G, it's still
WAP!

Exactly - 2G/2.5G/3G could be seen as the mobile equivalent of dialup
and broadband - it's at the network layer level.

WAP (and WML), like HTML etc is at a higher level.

You can use WAP on your PC at home if you wanted to access a WAP/WML
site. Similarly you can use full HTML on your mobile.

WAP is the content type, 2G etc is the transmission method.

You're right, you know.

Although I've only been using it for a few hours I'm familiar with the
layout as it's similar to my Nokia e61, but the processor appears to
be much quicker. Very good. Just installing the Nokia PC Suite
rubbish on my PC again now.
