Default N95 deals?

I know, it's just out, but my 18 month contract finishes in a month. I'd
really like one of these phones, preferably with a £30-35 contract/month
including some hi-speed internet access.

Any advice appreciated!

p.s. also, have read some reviews that this phone crashes like crazy, is
this still the case? No firmware updates?

I'm currently on Voadafone .. does that make this still valid? Also, what
sort of connectivity do you get with this? I'd like to get into sending
pictures, using MSN messenger, cheating in pub quizzes etc ...

Cool, just called them and got an upgrade for £35. Am on a lower number of
minutes, as I want a lower monthly tariff. I got a £25/month tariff.

Now to see how much my Sony Ericsson W800i will get on eBay ...

Jesus! Good luck in getting that much, I was only expecting
to get about £120 for my 2nd hand w850!

Well done on getting it for £35 on upgrade though, they must
have really soaked up some of the price on that, the cost
price to them is £350 and box price is £500, I had to call
twice to get it for £35 as well, first guy I spoke to quoted
£50, I suppose it depends how badly the agent you're speaking
to needs the sale too.

I quoted "a mate" ... which'll be you

So, £25 times 18 = £450 + £35 .. I'm getting the entire contract less than
the RRP!

I also "lost" 5 weeks on my old contract - so saved myself a little bit
there too. (Probably the cost of the phone).

Only problem is that I have to pop out for an hour tomorrow, and I'm
guessing that'll be when the phone arrives. Trying to convince my bro to
housesit!

GPS on a phone, fantastic stuff, should be good.

Cheers Charlie, i'm very interested in this deal...are those minutes OK to
call anytime and anyone? Also knowing Vodafone, they usually murder the
phone and software with their Vodafone live branding, can you tell me if
this is the case with this phone?

Thanks in advance

I just spoke to nokia about that, was trying to find somewhere
that sold the voice prompted navigation, turns out that it's a
licence that you can buy on the phone which then enables extra
features.

We'll see how much that costs, might be cheaper to get tomtom
for symbian.

I hope it turns up now! It's supposed to be here before 12
tomorrow, fingers crossed.

let us know how the slider performs, ie, build quality etc. hope its much
better than the piss poor effort on the N80.

Yes, they're any time any network minutes. As for the
branding on the phone, I'm not sure yet, I'll get back to you
tomorrow when it arrives!

I was looking at one of these but the Orange website says Standby time is
"1.0 Days" and talktime is 2.00 hrs - surely some mistake.

Well it's come, very nice, slider is fine, again it's a soft
slide but it would have to be as it slides both ways.

Only problem is, there's a fault

There's a really high pitched buzzing/squealing coming out
of the ear piece, just done a search on google as well for
"N95 high pitched" and it's brought up loads of stuff, if
you use the headset then you can't hear it, so it's definitely
something to do with the phone itself.

Called Vodafone, all out of stock and none back in now until
the 6th! However, looking at google it appears they're all
going to have this problem, so if you've got sensitive ears
or a pet dog you might want to avoid!

Why do Nokia phones ALWAYS have to have something wrong with
them nowadays? Why can't they work properly like they always
used to? I don't think I'll be able to do with this bloody
buzzing so I'm gonna be sending it back and going back to my
W850i.

Firmware update? It was only released 2 days ago!

FWIW I tried to crash one for about 20 mins and couldn't. If Nokia have
actually managed to make it stable then they have a winner.

According to the UK nokia site, the N95 isn't available here yet. So, can't
get a firmware update whatever. My phone is "okay", I've been playing with
it loads and have crashed it a few times, which is a little worrying.
Battery life hasn't been particularly long, but I've been playing a lot.
The GPS took ages to get a locked signal, but picked up 5 satellites really
quickly. Just didn't lock. The second connection was a minute or so.
I'm now having trouble getting the wifi to connect and stay connected to my
WPA-psk enabled wifi router.

I'm impressed with the screen, but am wondering whether I can live with
short battery life and whether I can fix the wifi problems. The GPS will
probably hardly get used to be honest, so that's not really worth figuring
into the equation.

So, not sure at the moment whether impressed or not.
