I have an elderly 5200 - the well-known rubber "builder's phone" which
needs a new battery (a BLB-2 model). There are plenty on Ebay as cheap
as chips, purporting to be genuine Nokia items, and I bought one a few
months ago - but guess what, it completely failed recently and the
seller unsurprisingly doesn't want to know.
Question - where can I buy a definitely genuine battery (or at least,
one which will work properly!) for this old model? I daresay that if I
approach an official Nokia outlet they'd be able to order one up
specially, at some exhorbitant price, but hopefully there's a better
option out there which someone can reccommend?

The Orange shop I work in has these at clearance - £4.99. Genuine
Nokia. I'm 99% they're for the model you're talking about (although it
would be a Nokia 5210, does that sound better?). I'm based in Belfast,
but you could try a couple of your local stores and see if they happen
to have any left...

Or http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/5200-Batteries.htm. A bit more expensive,
though...........

Sorry, hit send by mistook. Mobilefun seems to suggest that the battery for
5210 is different to the 5200..

Thanks - yes 5210 it is! - will give that a try.

I see they also do them for the 5210 (ie the BLB-2), though as you say,
bit dear - 13.50 delivered. Do we know they *really* genuine Nokia? (as
the 99p items on ebay say that too! :-) )

I've bought from them in the past and used the Nokia Genuine Battery checker
against them, http://europe.nokia.com/A4144894, and never found the code to
have been entered before or failed checking.

Thnaks, sounds encouraging then. I looked at the above Nokia tool when
checking my recent ebay purchase, however it seems that production of
the BLB-2 battery predates the Nokia tool!
