New Orange contract is this normal?

Hi there, i bought a new orange contract and phone today from the orange
shop. I asked to have my old orange PAYG phone number transfered to the new
contract. I was told this would be done by sending a sim update to the new
phone within 24hrs. It would appear however that they have updated my old
PAYG sim to the new contract. As i now can't dial 450 or 453 to find out my
credit etc. When i dial 150 and ask about my minutes left it says that the
account is being updated - i can make calls with this old sim. The new sim
seems to have been deactivated as it is saying that there is no network for
it now.

Is this the way round it should of happenned? I was told the new sim would
be updated? And the old one deactivated. My only worry at the moment is that
i cannot connect to the WAP settings via the phone (a k800i)

Have orange done something worng or was the girl in the shop misinformed?

Nevermind it seems they have now activated the new sim to my OLD PAYG number
:-)

Anyway i have one question as i have never used GPRS before - or don't know
if i want to.

What is best to connect to the orange world services? Do i use GPRS? ie set
the profile as "orange gprs" or should i use "orange internet" as the
profile. Its a k800i. I'm a little confused as to how the two work? Is there
a difference? The manual isn't clear.

The old SIM gets converted to contract immediately. The PAYG account is
closed and you lose all credit on it. The upgrade to your new phone
takes place within 24 hours as you've seen (can't happen straight away
as the two processes are seperate have have to occur seperately).

That's what happens first, and then within a few hours it will stop and
transfer onto your new SIM card, I.e. the one that came with the new
phone. Sit tight for a few hours, all will be well.

It's won't make any difference charge-wise. GPRS is much cheaper than
dial-up for browsing mobile internet pages.
