Default New Orange PAYG tarrifs

Was going to get a call abroad sim, however looking at the new Camel
tariff it looks like calls to my destinations will go up over 100%.

My question is if I can get hold of a old call aboard branded sim,
will it still be charged at the call abroad rates or the new Camel
rates?

Cheers.

I suspect you would be better off with an old Orange OVP Virgin Sim,
which would give you Orange contract Roaming rate.

Hi,

Not interested in roaming, just direct dial calls. looking at the
contract direct dial calls, most of mine would fall into the rest of
world 2 band at £1.75 per min.

Camel PAYG rates would be 15p landline / 20p mobile per min.

Call abroad PAYG rates would be 7p landline/mobile per min for the
countries I call most.

Cheers.

I'm sorry I associate Camel with Roaming as it's a PAYT roaming technique.

So Bloody Orange have called a Tarff Camel!
Great that should cause lots of unnecessary confusion.

Umm I would probably look at callthroughs for calling abroad,
I would need to know which countries and if mobiles?

Hi,

I call mostly mobiles in various Caribbean countries, mainly Barbados.
I did use my 02 contract to dial 0844 and 0870 callthroughs, but not
since they stopped including them in inclusive minutes.

Have been using Tesco PAYG at 20p per min.

Cheers.

So which would you suggest for calling Cyprus mobiles from either a landline
(with inclusive 01 & 02 numbers) or an Orange contract phone (select500)
with inc X-net minutes?

I can't seem to make predial work, and checking their website, it says CY
mob's are not included.

? ?

Umm if you still have 0870 callthroughs that work, and off peak calls will
do?

Why not look for an Orange ED50 contract to transfer,
they do still inc 0870 and 0845 for 50 mins off peak a day,
and then 1p per min after that.

and I suspect 3's international bolt on will beat your Tesco 20p per min.
assuming you make a lot of calls

Sounds like you need a post pay calling card service
(not the crap ones from shops)
check out:
http://www.magsys.co.uk/
http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/residx.htm

Look for the rates to Cyprus, check out the obvious ones like
Tiscali talk, Telecom plus, Alpha telecom,1899 etc, etc.
most have raised their rates in recent months.

Hi,

I haven't used them since 02 removed them from inclusive minutes, so
have no idea if they still work. I found them quite unreliable most
times.

I had a ED50 contract, then ported to 02 as I needed peak calls to
those non-geo numbers.

>and I suspect 3's international bolt on will beat your Tesco 20p per min.

Is this the £15 international saver option? If so calls to the
Caribbean are excluded.

Been looking at other options like Lebara Mobile, Nomi Mobile, Mobile
World, even 02 Your Country.

It's seems O's Call Abroad tariff was going to be the best for me.

Cheers.

Is there any difference? The EU forced all the companies to harmonise
their rates to a set amount. Good thing too!

It probably is

http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/residx.htm
might help, some still have geo access numbers you could use with inc mins

Contract Roaming rates are almost always cheaper then PAYT roaming rates.

Also Contract Roaming will allow you to manually choose which foreign
network
you want to use, handy in areas where the default PAYT Roaming network
maybe weak.

Maybe- but not for the EU.

This must be orange you're talking about? Several other PAYT networks
have long since allowed a choice of networks abroad. I use Tesco mobile-
it was their cheap roaming rates which finally convinced me I didn't
need a contract. Tesco doesn't work in all countries though. Not a big
deal to me, though I've visited some of them where it didn't work.

My wife's PAYG roaming rates are considerably cheaper than my work
contract phone, because of Vodafone Passport (can't get it on my
contract).

You can do that on PAYG too, on Vodafone at least. Although you won't
get passport rates if you don't use the default.

The SIM is not relevant, in fact we are using Call Abroad SIMs to
connect customers to Camel. You will be given the choice of animal
package when calling 343 to register - it doesn't matter what type of
SIM you actually buy/obtain.

Isn't that called price-fixing?

The roaming rates are not identical accross networks in any case.

It's called good sense.

> The roaming rates are not identical accross networks in any case.

No, because some are lower than others, but the upper limit is capped.
If you know of any company charging above the limit, do let me know, and
I'll report them, and they'll be fined. One of the best things the EU
did for consumers in recent years....
