Right, so I'm on BT Mobile (BT Fusion) with a Motorola A910 handset and I
get 20MB/month free internet surfing - but how the hell do you surf the
internet with a mobile phone???
I'm 50-years old and really just can not get to grips with "text messages" -
if you surf the internet in the same way, ie, 4 button presses of the "7"
button to get to the letter "S", then it'll take me over an hour just to
type in www.friendsreunited.co.uk
I think I'd rather poke my own eyes out rather than go through all that
messing )

Hi there,
You need a Notebook computer to access it and use your mobile as a
modem. If your computer has Blue Tooth or Wireless you can use your
mobile with Blue Tooth or if you have an account with a Wi Fi provider
like BT Openzone you can use Wi Fi in a Hot Spot.

Aha, now that makes much more sense - thanks for that Paul )

You CAN also browse the internet on your actual phone(without using a
laptop), though like you say, it is somthing of a pain to use with a mobile
keypad. I sometimes use my Nokia 6230 to check the weather forecast, or
occasionally use Google or IMDB.

Cheers Chris. I did notice that the phone has a "Browser" and that's why I
asked but no, I'll not be bothering with that - I'll use it as a modem for
my laptop )

Be careful!!, if you are browsing the regular internet using your phone as a
modem your free 20Mb will get used up in about 5 minutes! Not even sure if
the free data transfer will count if the phone is used this way. I think it
is intended for browing using the actual phone. Check with your provider, or
proceed with caution...
If you are planning to use the internet quite a bit, consider picking up one
of those Internet PayAsYouGo CDs from Tescos or a computer shop or
wherever...
If you are planning on using the internet a lot, consider paying for
Broadband (from about £15/month)

Good points Chris but I was just thinking about using it as a modem when I
stay in hotels as a way of getting my emails, rather than web surfing in
general. As you say though, I'll check with BT Mobile for the official line.

Fair enough, should be fine for occasional use.
Have fun.
