Bought a Vodafone PAYT sim for my Nokia, to try out the Traffic feature of
my TomTom One and cannot get the TomTom to use the GPRS connection.
I keep getting the message "subscribe to gprs first" on the phone.
The phone can connect to the 'net ok, but the TomTom side of things doesn't
work.
I've googled a fair bit and checked with Vodafone that I have got full GPRS
enabled, this was their reply...
"Please note that the setting for WAP and GPRS are same. If Tom Tom is not
working I suggest you to contact Tom Tom on 0845 161 0009 and they will be
able to help you with this."
Should my TomTom connect ok on a PAYT Vodafone sim?

I didn't think Tom Tom worked with GPRS - only GPS that the 6230i doesn't
have.

No, it doesn't help, not in the slightest.
GPRS is a data service on your phone, TomTom uses it to download live
traffic data.
It's nothing to do with the GPS navigation side of things.

Fair enough, you learn something new every day. You an AROC member by any
chance ?

I have been in the past, but it's mainly populated by pompous arses who
look down on people who don't have one of the iconic classics.

Didn't work, but cheers anyway.
Popped in the local Orange shop after work yesterday, picked up a PAYG sim,
worked straight away!
Googling the issue, it did look like Orange may work, looks like GPRS isn't
fully enabled on O2 and Vodafone Prepay?

No worries, IIRC on o2 PAYG it defeintely isn't.
Just out of curioity did you chose the Voda PAYT WAP/GPRS or Internet
settings from the site?

Yes it was, never mind at least it's working on O.
