Anyone any tips on setting the damned phone up to collect emails from
an orange.net account.
Have had the settings sent repeatedly by Orange. Done them manually
myself. Had Orange talk through the settings manually. All to no avail.
Whenever an attempt is made to check mail, the error message "could not
connect to network, please check connection settings" appears.
Incidentally, web browsing works.

Put in the correct settings is usually a good start.

POP3 username catches lots of people out. 439 for help with email, but
it's 50p a minute.

Interestingly the Orange site says the username is a combination of
letters & numbers, which is what I remember using over a year ago -
before being instructed to use 07xxxxxxxxx@orange.net as the username.
The account works fine with Outlook, just not with the 6233.

How are you connecting the 6233 to the internet? Presumably with Orange
GPRS, and the fact that your web-browsing is working using the same
internet connection is enough to baffle me.

Spot on and I'm just as baffled. I'd hoped that there was a quirk that
someone might be aware of. Nevermind. Will have to wait for Orange to
get back to me.

I missed that in my list! Sorry. Already tried. Thanks for your
suggestion, though.

Thanks for your interest.
AFAIA, that's the connection that's in use. (It's not me with the
phone) OCS have been about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

If the settings are correct but it's not working then there's little
that OCS can actually do. You might want to ask for an escalation to
technical support, or "network customer services (ncs)" as they are
known internally.

Unfortunately, I'm a step ahead. The case has been escalated & the 36
hour wait was over on Friday The promised callback never materialised,
so called myself on Saturday
The escalation had resulted in some additional questions - which were
all answered already, had they bothered to read the original
escalation.
Rang back today to discover the answers supplied on Saturday were "in
the wrong inbox" so still hadn't been picked up.
