Default Nokia n80 Messages

OK,

The nokia N80 has been out for quite a while now and im sure there *must* be
some angry users who have upgraded from something like a 6680 and found it
impossible to move your text messages over?

I've been on loads of forums and nobody can seem to find a way to do this
successfully; ive tried renaming folders copying files and index files and
nothing will make my N80 recognise the old messages from my 6680.

The nokia software is crap - because yes it does move the messages, but
strips out who sent it so you just get the text

Any idea's?

S

Hi, this may not be what you are after but if I open the Nokia PC Suite
Messages application, I can drag and drop messages to a folder on my PC.
They appear as *.vmg files. If I open one, I can see the "From field" for
messages in the inbox and the "To field" for messages in the sent folder.
Date and time included.

Try Lifeblog 2.0? Have a go with the demo and see if you like it.
www.nokia.com/lifeblog

You'll have to use Lifeblog 1.8 first to upload the messages from your 6680
then download them back onto your N80 using Lifeblog 2.0. I've got an N73
coming tomorrow hopefully, so I'll be doing the same.

If you don't want to purchase the software have you tried
Messaging>OPTIONS>Settings>Other>Memory in use>Memory Card...??? It should
then ask you if you want to move the messages to your memory card.

Then use a memory card reader to move the messages onto the Mini SD? I've
not tried it though.
