Default Nokia N80 on Orange..... recall??????

Just got off the phone with Orange sales - 0800 079 2000 - when I said I
wanted to buy a N80.

I was told that the N80 had been withdrawn due to 'software problems'. I
then asked what was going to happen to all the Orange customers with a N80
already (like me) and he said that they were going to be recalled.

I asked him what the replacement was going to be and he said he didn't know.

Anyone anything more on this?????

Have a look at

http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/content...sp?men=1&sub=6

"Orange has also pulled sales of the N80 within the last week. It is
believed that the network may be phasing out sales to make way for a new
Nseries phone to be announced imminently. It is expected to resemble the
N80 with greatly improved specifications."

Well they ought to recall the N70 too, as it is astonishingly rubbish!

That wouldn't be in reference to the N80i would it? Same phone, but more
features...

No.

No.

It's not without its faults, but these can be fixed by software updates.
Hopefully Nokia will soon add the N80 to it's list of home-flashable
phones.

Sure enough it has been added, but my Orange branded N80 has
V3.0614.0.3 (11-04-2006) and the Nokia app tells me there is no new
software available. Looks like i'll have to take it to a service centre
after all.

My N80 has a definite problem with answerphone notification. I never
receive notification when someone leaves a voicemail on either line,
but I do get repeated error messages that there's insufficient memory
to receive SIM messages. At first I thought it meant SMS messages, but
it doesn't.

I haven't tried a different sim so I don't know if this problem is due
to having line 2, or a more widespread problem. Apart from this, line 2
works fine and I can swap lines by holding down # as expected.

Ensure that you have cleared your SIM inbox. Please note this is not the
same as your ordinary message inbox. Go to messages, then options > SIM
messages.

A SIM update will not appear in your inbox, it goes into SIM messages.
