If you go to Google groups you will see that this topic has been
raised before. Orange has done some disabling of voip.

No. The built-in VoIP has been disabled but there's nothing to stop you
installing truphone. If you are comparing Orange to the the current T-
Mobile situation you should be aware that installing the application
itself in not blocked, just that using it is.

Is it not possible to get the phone reflashed and get the feature
back?
I know that I wouldn't consider, in my wildest dreams, paying that
sort of money for a phone that was partially disabled, especially as I
would want to use my choice of voip provider.

I think that is may be possible to get a phone on the Orange tariff,
that isn't branded Orange, from some dealers and thus retain the full
facilities of the phone - am I right?

Yes - I reflashed mine and it's fine with Gizmo VOIP which I use
natively (ie without the application)

Visit
http://thenokiablog.com/2006/11/28/h...music-edition/
and follow the instructions at the bottom, however since the
instructions are for a different phone you need to enter a different
model number. For the plum, Euro version the code is 0534841.

This worked fine for me. I did it from a laptop with a full charged
battery and with the phone with a fully charged battery so as to be
immune from power failures.
