Free Virgin Mobile Phone, 300 texts, 300 minutes,
no contract, only £10 a month. To get sorted or for more information,
call
0800 408 9342 and quote 'Free Lobster Offer'

Though I think if you have the "free phone" you have to pay your way out
before 12 months.

Plus you can only get the free Lobster phone if you have the 3 for £30
Cable deal.

What you get
Pick any cable service you like and get a great deal from Virgin
Mobile. Or get all 4 for just £40 a month.
Broadband - from the UK's number one
*
It's unlimited, so you can use it as much as you like - unlike
BT.
*
Nearly 35 times faster than dial-up.
Digital TV - next generation
*
All the top channels including Sky One, E4, ITV2 and CBeebies.
*
Instant access to a library of over 500 films and TV shows.
Home phone - great value
*
Unlimited weekend calls - to any UK landline (for the same price
you pay just for BT line rental).
*
You can usually keep your own number - they'll even contact BT on
your behalf to arrange the switch.
Mobile phone deal - half price
*
Keep the phone you've got.
*
Swap to an exclusive monthly tariff - pay half the usual price.
*
Get 300 texts and 300 minutes for £10 a month (normally £20)
*
Use your calls and texts to any UK mobile network, any time.

Right, so you are saying to get the free phone you must also take at
least 2 other services?
As not to get the free phone and just have the SIM you only need one
other service.

How they call Home Phone great value I fail to see. They never mention
that for your £11 on BT you pay a fixed fee of 5.5p for an hour in the
evenings and at weekends. That is less than their 6p connection charge
during the weekday evenings, and on top of that they charge you 3p/min,
soon cancels out the free weekend calls in my books. Also ignores
people like Primus who will give you free evening and weekend calls for
no charge if you have BT line.
20 min call on NTL/Telewest on a Monday evening 66p on BT 5.5p.
20 min call on NTL/Telewest at the weekend 0p on BT 5.5p.

Oops, yes sorry - that's where I saw the offer; I thought I'd found the

How do you mean, "pay your way out"? Can't see anything about this in
the T&C

I already have home phone/broadband/cable TV so presumably this card was
targeted at me...
Still don't know whether I can get the Lobster phone (hey - like the
sound of that ;-) ) and stop the direct debit after 1 month and keep the
phone though?

Reading the website (granted not directly linked to this offer mentioned
within this thread, but it could well be the same terms).
*Choosing the Pay Monthly SIM only introductory offer?*
There are 3 tariffs to choose from as part of this introductory offer,
available until 31/10/06. Unlike a contract, there's no minimum term and
no ties. After your first month, you're free to leave when you choose.
*Prefer a Pay Monthly contract?*
You'll get twice as many minutes and texts with selected tariffs when
you buy online. That's compared to the standard tariffs in other
retailers, for as long as you stay a Pay Monthly customer. Or go for our
special online £25 tariff for big texters!
Your Pay Monthly contract comes with a phone and lasts for 12 months
initially. If you'd like to cancel your contract at any time, you can.
You'll just need to give us a month's notice, and pay off the monthly
payments to the end of your contract.
Please note you can only buy one contract at a time.
Yes this is from a Virgin Mobile offer and not the ntl:TW customer
offer, but maybe there are similar terms.

I think it is a Cellular Telephone that only gets to function on 1800 Mhz

I am an NTL customer with Home phone and Cable Broadband (No TV). The offer
that I received from NTL was a SIM ONLY deal. I went for the offer from the
Red Card delivered through the door which gave me a Lobster 575 and a £10
monthly deal with 300 min's and 300 texts. Virgin state that you can check
your a/c on-line, so I did after a couple of days use. It shows charges for
calls and texts and a balance of £3 (ish) ??? There is also a "button" to
click for topping-up! I don't think so! These items with be checked with
Virgin later today.
The downside with the phone is .. it does not come with a USB lead to upload
and download from the phone or camera. Of course you could email them to
your home by paying Virgin for the service.
Virgin won't supply this lead but I have found one for sale at www.M-99.co.uk which has just arrived. It fits the phone and the computer
but nothin else happens. I did expect it to show in "My Computer" as an
extra drive :-(. Maybe I need some software now :-( ? This I will have to
check with M-99.
Tiny Phone with 1.3Mpixel Camera for free is nearly agood deal, when I
can download from it, it will be great!

You can top up on the web. They will also supply you with a card. If you
use either of these the amount will be taken off the direct debit. So
you have 3 ways to pay.
The £3 balance will be what you have spent over and above your allowance
pluse any pro-rata payment. They use 2 dates 1. A refresh date when your
free minutes and texts are applied 2. The actual billing date.

Yes I did, I just phoned the 0800 number on the "Red Card" and waited for
around 70 min's for a person to reply. We then went through the set up of
the account and direct debit. The phone arrived Friday morning via Lynx
Courier, less that 24 hours from ordering.
Just mention the Free phone when you call them, well, you have to just to
make sure you don't end up with a PINK one!

It is NOT a web site deal... It is a deal based on the Red Card which is

Thanks for that Dave, I did expect the dates for billing etc not to coincide
with my start date. That would be too easy.

The following deal is available for existing Telewest/NTL customers - no
free phone though
Existing telewest customers do get the free phone deal, my phone
arrived today !
You get the red card through your door with the phone number and call
virgin on the supplied freephone number.
When you order the deal they ask you for your telewest account number
and then will put the deal through.

Re: NTL/Virgin - new deal for cable cuctomers - NOT easy
Hi Folks,
Had a similar offer with my telewest bill today - tried to take it up.
1/ Ring number on leaflet
Recorded voice tells to use telewest website.
2/ Went to url - filled in form
Takes you to a virgin page with another number to ring
3/ Ring number - recorded voice says they are it will take at least an hour
to be answered - person answers - asks for my number and says that virgin
will call back later that day ( still no response ) !

I'm with Telewest and my dealings with them, and the reliability of
the broadband, has been good. It will be sad if NTL drags this down,
hopefully it will be the other way and NTHell will improve - they
certainly have a very bad reputation for CS.

Aye its the virgin part that seems to be the problem. For broadband have
found telewest to be good with minor problems as have been able to talk to
folk there who can understand and fix things - that is when thro their call
fielding system.
Virgin however seem to have a secure call fielding system which includes
short excursions for callers to the interweb thingy.
Perhaps they didn't hire any extra folk to cope with the offer - presumably
the money was spent on the 'free' handsets mentioned at the start of the
thread !
