Default o2 3G sim-card

I've recently upgraded to a k800i; 3g, compared to my k750i 2g handset.

They sent a 3G sim-card, but I'm happily using my 2G sim-card in it at the
minute. Do 3g sim-cards offer any benefits, excluding the obvious higher
bandwidth? I was planning on getting it activated, and using it in the
phone, with 3g switched off. Even with this switched off, is there any
reason for it to use more power?

I'd expect the answer would be: no extra benefits, uses same power; but you
never know these days!

I meant to say, I was sort of referring to extra phone-number/text-message
capacity, and other minor benefits of a 3g sim-card also.

Faster WAP access/downloading if you are in a 3G area supports video calls,
no other benefits.

Cool, I thought that. Wasn't sure if they had some extra-excellenty
technology to entice customers to upgrade, sounds like they've not bothered.
I thought 1000 sim-card contacts or something would be on the cards.
