Default O2 E160 USB Dongle - Reinstate O2 Dashboard and drivers afterunlocking

HI people

Does anyone know if it possible to reflash the O2 Huawei e160 USB
dongle after unlocking and flashing it with generic software and
dashboard (mobile partner). Also does anyone know where I can find it.

Thanks in advance

Isn't it 'unlocked' out of the box? Just stick the APN details of
your desired provider in to the connection details area.

HI

O2's connection manager software would permitting connection to any
other network even though the USB dongle was unlocked. It seems that
network customised software limits you to using their own network,
hence the installation of Huawei's universal connection manager
'Mobile Partner'.

Completely wrong. I have an O2 E160 dongle here and I can quite
easily connect to T-Mobile using the O2 branded software by just
creating a new profile for T-Mobile in the settings in Windows.

In OSX Leopard using the same donble and the built-in MobileConnect
software one just creates a T-Mobile profile and signs in using the
T-Mob settings.

Cheers Nick

Must be the settings / APN I entered originally that was the problem
then. I have couple more e160s to play with just didn't want to break
the seal on the packaging. I will give it a go and see how I get on.

The settings I use are from here:

http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

In Leopard I just stick the APN as 'general.t-mobile.uk', stick 'user'
in the username box and 'wap' as the password, set the dialup number
as *99# and hit connect. This is under Mac OSX Leopard, but I
remember setting it up under Windows wasn't too difficult. Just
needed to create a profile for T-Mobile UK or whatever the network
shows up as with similar settings.

Even sending and receiving of text messages works in the O2 branded
E160 software without modification.

If you're having problems then just create a new profile for your
operator and set it up from there.

I used the default O2 profile as a template and just creatd one for
T-Mob. Shouldn't be any different for the other UK or foreign
providers either.
