Default O2 Offering Missed Call Alerts

O2 now offer a missed call alert text service like Orange and T-Mobile have for years.
If your phone is switched off or out of coverage when someone calls, but they don't leave a message, you can get a free text to say they tried to ring.

Call voicemail (901) then press *45 to toggle on/off.

Not yet available on GiffGaff (so probably not on other virtuals) but I would guess it may be soon?

And Vodafone AIUI. I fired O2 for incompetence.

It's definitely in the last few months.

They have offered O2 Call Alert for years but that was a service you could only use instead of voicemail, rather than alongside.

Maybe it is because mine is on a business tariff. Voicemail tries ringing
you two or three times and if you don't answer it sends you a text: -

"
O2 Voicemail. You have 1 new message, call 901 to retrieve. You can return
calls at your standard rate - just press 5 during or after the message.
"

Ah, this is something different. This new missed call alert text is if someone calls you when your phone is switched off / has no signal and the person does NOT leave a message. If someone doesn't leave a message there would be no way to know they have called.

Ah - I see the subtle difference and have enabled it.

Very rare for this to happen to me.

I just use <*#147# Send> on my VF handset, to check to see the last caller
that attempted to ring me while it's been off, out of range, or in use on
another call.
