o2 to Orange number port, Orange tell me problems since last week?
A number port from o2 to Orange was meant to happen on Monday 12th. I've
done number ports all over the place many times before (same number in
question).
Orange have still managed to not get it working since then. The latest claim
is that there's been a fault developing since last week Tuesday affecting
thousands of their customers. Problem with Orange but also countrywide
affecting other networks?
Anyway, how much truth is there in this claim? Is it basically a human in
the "IT Department" at Orange that is going through each port one by one and
fixing the routing?
It's really annoying being out of my main number. Thankfully I don't use it
for work - Business customers must been hugely effected.

Hi
I have just ported 32 numbers from Voda to Orange for a business
customer and can confirm that there are indeed problems on some
numbers at present.
Three of these 32 numbers, which should have ported on Wednesday 7th,
are still not working. this is apparently *not* a porting problem, but
a network problem where these three numbers have failed to connect to
the Orange network. I have also been told that there are hundreds of
numbers involved and that it is being worked on as a 'network fault'.
Nobody at Orange seems to know when this will be fixed (and this is a
week after the porting date!)
I have had minor problems with previous ports, but never anything like
this before.

Thanks for your post - very useful.
As business telecoms, what kind of compensation are you, or your customer,
expecting?

My customer is threatening to become an ex-customer, meaning all my
work on the account would have been for nothing.
As I only have Level 2 access on the account I am unable to speak to
Retentions until tomorrow, when I shall be visiting the customer in
order that I can pass the phone over to the account holder to be able
to speak to Retentions myself on their behalf.
Over half of the 32 ports were botched in some way or other; in fact
one number was totally missed by Orange and will not now port for 14
days - it was bad enough for the customer having to overlap two
accounts by 14 days - it's now going to be 31 days overlap.
The very least I shall be looking for is some sort of bill credit
(that's assuming the customer accepts this, and doesn't decide to back
out of the whole contract).

Orange's screw up effects your business as well. Will they do anything for
you?
The latest for me is that apparently the fault has been fixed and I now have
to wait the famous 24 hours.
But, then calling my number from another phone and someone else picks up!
Their port has also gone wrong and he couldn't understand how they gave him
my number and so on. He says his fault will be fixed in 2 hours.
Not sure what to do here. Will call Orange again now, but ultimately I am
worried about losing that number all together.
When did Orange go so downhill? I only left them previously 6 months ago
(after 5 contracts every year for 4 years).

Not sure if it helps but I had a number port from O2 to T-Mobile last
Friday with no problems at all. The T-Mobile phone was only down about
10 min

I just ported from O2 to Orange, also on the 12th. My O2 phone was
disconnected and calls to my number go to the Orange answerphone.
However, I usually cannot get any signal. If I do and I try to make a call
I get "connection error". GPRS seems to work though.
Haven't chased it up with Orange yet as it's only been two days and I'm
not sure how long a port should take although I was told it would only
take one day.

It is 100% true.

This is also true, although there is more than one person doing it.

It's only affected recently ported numbers, so thanks fully not that
many.

Of course they will. They will pay his fat commission for signing up 32
contracts. He is not due any extra compensation, nor will any be
forthcoming.

Hi Jon
For your information my 'fat commission' works out to £610 for many
hours work after I have paid the customer their £3,500 cashback.
What Orange did to my customer is outrageous:
1) they botched at least 16 of the ports - one number is still with
Voda and will mean that the customer will have to pay both Orange and
Vodafone for at least 34 days (instead of the normal 14 days for ports
of over 25 numbers).
2) temporary numbers have been mapped onto incorrect port numbers.
3) some numbers have been applied to the wrong account.
4) three numbers are still not working due to a 'network fault' - this
is over a week after the agreed port date.
I make my money from my customer being satisfied with the service I
offer whether the business be placed with Energis, MCI, Gamma, Orange,
T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone, Three etc.
Unlike yourself, I have no axe to grind for any particular company,
although I have been both a fan of and a customer of Orange for over
10 years now.
Yes, I am now claiming compensation from Orange, not for myself but
for my customer.
