Default o2 trying to charge me for cancelling contract

As they changed my terms of contract i asked to cancel and they said their
would be no termination fee now they've sent me a bill for £350 for the
remaining months of my contract. I've phoned and they said they'll look into
it i've got emails stating no cancellation fee. Where do i stand?

If you have got emails saying "no cancellation fee" then they don't have a
leg to stand on.

If you've got emails saying no fee, they can't go back on it.

I keep getting a £44 bill from O2 threating to cut me off, the bill is for
the month after a left them and joined 3UK. Keep phoning them and they say
its been sorted, but still get letters now and then.

TIP FOR EVERYONE: Always keep records and ALWAYS ask for anything agreed
over the phone in writing.

When I called to cancel in early September, I was told that their
billing system would automatically generate a cancellation penalty as I
was within my 18 month caontract period - but... to call them up as soon
as the bill was generated and they would rescind the charges.

Mind you they've called my wife a liar and said she doesn't call 08xx
numbers so they won't let her cancel. She has bill proving that she
does... anyone know how long it normally takes for o2 to respond to
written cancellation notices and how they do? will the phone just go
dead or will they let her know in advance?
