Opera Mini on Orange

Hi

Does anyone have any problems using Opera Mini on Orange?
Using a Nokia N73.
I have just started using Orange this week.

Orange customer services say they cannot help me as I am not using
Orange World and the browser provided with the phone. Fair enough I
guess as that is working and I can freely browse the web using it. As
is IM+ for Hotmail and Profimail for my own (non-orange) email
account.

When I try to connect with Opera Mini I get an error:
"You do not have a working network connection. Please visit
http://help.opera.com/mini/ with your desktop browser for
instructions.(error: 3.302.10.80).
This is with Orange Internet and Orange GPRS WAP.

If I put the Orange Sim into my N91 I get the same error.
My Vodafone Sim in the N91 works with no problems for Opera Mini.

Opera Mini is my preferred browser so if worse come to worse I can
cancel my new orange contract and try another provider.

Any ideas?

ring customer services and ask to remove safeguard, anything viewed via
Opera mini they class as being adult content. They'll treat you like a
pervert and fail to understand that it's actually a web browser rather
than some adult chat software and need proof that you are 18 during
the call but it should work once they remove the restriction.

Cheers Tried 150 and they are currently closed.
Tried to add the account online and the number is already being
managed online. FFS you would think when the previous owner of the
number left orange (or otherwise gave up the number) they would have
cancelled the online account.

Guess I'll have to play COD3 fort he rest of the night.

Rang 150 lunchtime today and got through instantly (after a few key
presses). Turned off safeguard there and then and Opera mini working
straight away.
Did not have to prove I was 18. Not sure they even asked the question.

You have to be 18 to open the contract, so as long as they asked you
your name and something else like your postcode to make sure they were
looking at the right account there would have been no need to quiz you
about your age.

Thanks. Yes they did that. Account password too.

Saying that. I think when I did the same on Vodafone I had to give
credit card details. I think they even took a payment from the card
(and credited to phone account?).

That'll be right. My orange sim was PAYG so they took a token credit
card payment as a top up for proof. Main thing is that it solves the
problem. Stupidest thing is that Orange's 'next generation browser'
they got people to trial recently is actually a butchered version of
Opera mini yet half the staff have never heard of it.

If you have a credit card, you are deemed to be 18. The age-verification
for Vodafone is carried by Bango I think.
