Default Orange 24 month contracts

Perfect

2 year contract, 1 year warranty on the phone.

http://www.whatpc.co.uk/vnunet/news/...rs-two-stretch

Hope this does not catch on!!

Maybe Orange should look at why people leave rather than imprisoning them.
The way the market is moving I am not sure I would want to be locked into a
contract for 2 years, before we know it it will be 3 years or life.

Ah you remember the early days of mobiles then. 18 or more month
contracts with 6 or more months notice of termination ...

The interesting ones had 12 month notice periods which had to expire on
the anniversary! Had to give notice at the same time as joining,
otherwise you had it two years.

It's an offer, no-one is forcing you to take it.

Some manufacturers are offering 2 year warranty anyway now, e.g. Nokia.

My first mobile contract required a 'disconnection fee' of £60 and 90
days notice after the initial 24 months - but that was the time when
there was only one tarrif and only Cellnet and Vodafone.

But there was none of this upgrading of phones every year - there just
were not any new models released to upgrade to! No porting either.

For those with bad credit ratings, is it easier to get longer term contacts,
on the basis that enforced collection gets more money, instead of a shorter
contract with less enforced collection profit, if there is a default?
