You are perfectly correct there!!
We're looking at our worldwide business telephones as well, mainly Europe
and USA at the same time. The technology is certainly there but they're
still not exactly making it a good deal are they.
We use Citrix for our remote access solution, it's incredibly powerful. At
present, we connect to wireless access points at airports, hotels, cafes
etc. But with Citrix, I think we eat up about 2MB an hour. For wireless,
this is nothing, drop in the ocean. But the wireless operators are in a
completely different ball park when it comes to capacity. Something like the
80MB I guess at £41 a month would give 1 hour every day. Hmm, maybe that's
not *too* bad.
I assume that "World access" means when you are using an Orange network when
roaming?
The Vodafone tariffs in the UK are getting better. £25 for 3G and 3GB a
month is quite reasonable for a mobile user. The £8.50 per 24 hours in
selected countries and £4.25 per MB in other countries isn't *too* bad. Our
average business traveller might be online for an hour so £8.50 for 2MB
would compare reasonably well with broadband in the hotel. However, I think
that hotels will all soon throw in wireless for free in a few years.
Not easy is it :-)
Cheers, Rob.
