Default Orange free zone?

I'm off to visit my parents for Xmas on 19 December and thought I'd
check the mobile phone coverage in the area.

Oddly much of Trowbridge, which is the county town of Wiltshire,
appears to have no Orange coverage at all.

I wonder if this is simply a glitch with the mapping or if it's an
example of Orange switching off its transmitters after its merger with
T-Mobile.

Orange coverage:

T-Mobile coverage:

County Hall's post code, which falls almost in the middle of the
Orange black spot, is BA14 8JN.

Notably, Orange do not co-operate with OfCom on the
mapping.........

Can you not simply roam onto T-Mobile?

There's numerous examples of the mapping - or to be exact the 2G mapping -
on the Orange website being plain broken.

Try playing around with the 2G & 3G layers. As an example, G83 8QZ area of
Loch Lomond - 2G is fine around here, and 3G is ok in parts. If you were to
believe the 2G coverage map, there are large stretches of the A82 which have
zero Orange coverage. I'm familiar with the site locations in this area -
and the 2G footprint from numerous BTS was simply not being represented on
the map. 3G was, if the site was 2G/3G.

I've found a few other examples since, and this one may even have been
fixed - but the point stands.

Rgds

Jon.
