I tried Orange world daily, but found 3 internet monthly faster and better
value
But you do need a 3G phone to go with a 3 PAYG Sim.
I use an unlocked Nokia 6630 that was originally on Orange PAYG,
with a 3 PAYG Sim

are the same as contract.
(on contract you also get a free phone / 3g modem)
Hi, I've had problems with Orange's GPRS services, i.e. kept disconnecting
and re-connecting at random intervals, and never really worked at weekends.
Had no problems with O2, both on Payg and Simplicity Sim Only. Hope that
helps.

I've seen adverts by 3 advertising their 3G modem dongles on both contract
and PAYG. While both offer 1GB/month for £10, the contract version has an
out-of-bundle rate of 10p/Mbyte, while the PAYG has an out-of-bundle rate
of £1/Mbyte.

O2 PAYG is WAP only via a proxy. Not much use if you wish to use email.

Dropping into high out of bundle rates never applies
Contract users get the bonus if they ask, 3 will currently let them have
Broadband at half monthly rate.
A friend last week got 18 month contract broadband 3GB d/l p/m
for £7.50 p/m, instead of normal £15p/m.
That isn't available to PAYG :-(

So whats the cheapest way of getting a PAYG mobile on 3 with the facility of
being able to use their PAYG 3G broadband? I see that Skypephone they do is
40 pounds, can I buy one of those and connect it to my PC and get 3G
wireless broadband?

I wondering just that, if the 40quid Skypephone could be used for data too?
I know 3s Nokia 6210 on PAYG for 99quid has Turbo and of course
can be used with the latest Nokia PC suite software which will give you
one button connection, and had built in world wide 3g Network settings,
making setup very easy.
If the Skypephone can be use with a USB lead for Broadband,
i doubt if it has anything like as easy set up, my guess network settings
would have to be entered manually?
If Turbo isn't a requirement, just look for a used Nokia 6630 on eBay
and stick a 3 PAYT sim in it, it works with the latest Nokia PC suite

The skypephone is not really a skypephone. When you make a "skype" call
it's just a normal call until it's gets to the 3 network where they turn
it into a skype call for the rest of it's onward journey. Hence when you
make a skype call you're not actyually using data, you are using voice.
