It could easily be a network fault, with a piece of kit called the HLR.
If an HLR plays up it will affect subscribers in a non-geographical
manner, I.e. up and down the country. There are about 40 HLRs in service
so the chances of you being on the same HLR as your housemate are 1 in
40 I.e. very small so they would remain unaffected by this HLR issue.
I'm not saying that's whats happening in your case but it is a
possibility.
The fact is that the N80 is a shockingly poor handset for the price it
commands, and re-starting the phone every day is a good idea anyway.
