Default Orange tariff change mid contract

ISTR you used to be able to change price plan monthly on Orange, but I
was told it isn't possible to change until you're outside your minimum
contract period - is this correct ?

I was looking at changing to a tariff with some inclusive texts etc
and perhaps £30/month to get the "free" broadband but I have an 18
month contract 10 months in.

You can always change up.

However you cannot change down until you have completed half of the
contract.

It used to be that you could then change down as far as you liked
immediately you reached the half way point

It was then changed to change down by one price point only per month
(I suspect that this may be the rule that applied when your contract
was set up).

For new contracts this has been tightened up still further as you can
only change down one price point for the duration of the contract.

The above is how business contracts on Orange work: AFAIK consumer
contracts follow similar rules.

You can change up at any time. You can only change down halfway through
your contract. You won't be able to move to one of the animal plans, you
would have to pick from a range known as the "core plans" which are just
a bunch of minutes with no extras.

If you do change to £30+ you could activate free broadband but your
phone contract would reset to 18 months.

that's probably the gotcha - we were discussing animal plans and the
Orange CS guy said I couldn't move. Back to ask about "core plans" I
guess.

I can cope with that, have an unlocked Treo etc and need to get my
Home Highway line sorted onto Broadband ASAP without an escalation in
costs.

Thanks all,

Phil

Allow me (but prepare to be underwhelmed):

minutes / £
100 / 25
200 / 30
240 / 35
300 / 40
400 / 45
600 / 55
900 / 75

35p/min cross network, 12p/min orange and landline, SMS 12p, delivery
reports 1p.

So, the Select 500 for 25GBP is 'good value' then!

That's OVP which you can't get anymore

Seems to me the best way to be on Orange now is by roaming from 3

You can get 3 VT&T with 100% cashback, roaming on Orange 2g

Well I did warn you! It's pretty vital to get the tariff right from the
start these days. It also helps to put off those people who purchase
phones on high tarrifs with the intent of lowering the tariff as soon as
possible.
