A quick heads up I noticed that I had the option of a FREE Nokia 6070 on the
Orange Virgin OVP contract. Looking at the Orange shop thats the only free
phone for me, the SPV C600 is £49.99 and if that had an FM Radio I would go for
it. At present I have an SPV C500.
Does anyone know if the C600 has the dust infiltration problem and the sound
glitch of the C500?

Yup, I think first mentioned on here a few days ago
My 6070 should be arriving tomorrow. Just trying to get my other OVP
Virgin account separated from my single Your Account logon so I can get
one for that account too.

Never had a problem with dust or the sound on my c500 so wouldn't expect it
on the c600, of which i've ordered 2 as OVP Virgin upgrades to sell.

Ahh apologies then, still my C500 still suffers from leaky seal allowing dust
entrance to the back screen and I have confirmed it from the modaco forums that
the C600 is the same. Might hang fire for now.

I sold my C500 a while back for - I think - £70 or so. It was about 15
months old, but I'd opened it to remove the dust (air blower). Cost me
about £5 for a set of 3 small torx bits. Was very dusty before I
cleaned it, much better when I'd finished. Some small scrapes on case,
but in quite good condition for 12+ months use.
C600 is *much* nicer - really lovely screen. You may find you can sell
the C500 for similar price you'd get it under upgrade for, giving you a
new phone, new warranty, and opportunity to resell it in the future.

You should be able to register each phone number in the upgrade section of
the website. I don't think it works the same as the 'your account' sign-on.
At least thats how is was in the past. I have two OVP virgin numbers on the
same account and I log-in to the upgrade section with each number but only
my main number works on the 'your account' log-on.

BTW - that didn't work for me.
The way I'm trying was contacting Tech Support (439 @ 50ppm) who said to
use Contact Us on the main website, which I did, got an update yesterday
saying it was now passed onto the online team and to try again in 48 hours.

It didn't work for me either, but I found out the reason. I had two separate
accounts which I merged in 2005 onto one account number. So I followed the
steps above, but using the (defunct) original account number. Just got the
phone this morning!

When I tried that with the defunct account number (well, one of them,
haven't tried the other yet) I got a message telling me that I wouldn't
be offered an upgrade on-line and needed to call customer services
(which I know from others' experiences is likely to be a fruitless task)
One of the two phones I have managed to order has turned up today
though.

Customer services will indeed be fruitless. They will confirm that as an OVP
Virgin customer you cannot take advantage of the personalised upgrade offers
shown on the website. I'm sure that trading standards might be interested in
this, because you log in with your phone and account numbers the offers can
be considered personlised to each customer and Orange shouldn't then pipe up
afterwards that you can't have what they offered you.
> One of the two phones I have managed to order has turned up today though.
You might find that retrying on the unsuccessful ones might bear fruit. Last
year several attempts proved successful in the end.

From the Upgrading T&C's
The Orange upgrade service is available to customers with an Orange Value
Promise Service Plan with call charges matched to Virgin Mobile but phone
prices will vary. Prices include VAT and are subject to change.
As Orange know when you log in what your service plan and offer you phones
with prices I don't see how they can refuse. Trading Standards would
definately be interested.

In deed, in Oct. 2005 it took 18 attempts to get 4 phones (four numbers on
two accounts).
So far all 4 of my attempts appear to have been ignored :-(

My first attempt for a Nokia 6111 at £49.99 on 11/01 was rejected. When
I called upgrades I was told "these prices do not apply to OVP Virgin
since you don't pay a monthly fee". So I asked what this upgrade would
cost on that tariff and was told £140.55. (The same phone (including
£10.00 airtime credit) is available online at 99.99 on Orange PAYG!)
The second attempt on 12/01 looks more promising. Orange upgrades
emailed today to confirm completion of order and that a Nokia 6070 will
be delivered on 15/01.
