Presumably you are wanting one because you are planning to visit Oz.
PAYG SIMs are easy to get in the mobile phone shops and are
effectively free with the money you pay for them going on calls. When
I have seen SIMs being sold by UK vendors they are often way
overpriced. I suppose they have to make their cut but really there is
no need to buy in advance unless you really feel you need to have your
mobile working from the moment you land. I've only used Telstra
because that network has the best coverage if you are travelling
around. The shops always want an address to go with the SIM but a
hotel address seems to be acceptable.
