Default Ping -> SteveH (Re N70)

Hi how are you getting on with your N770?

I flashed mine to the Os2007 Hacker Version but had problems reading and
writing to a 1gb memory card so I flashed it back to the OS it came with. It
is rock steady and is a joy to play with. It is so tweakable!

I need a Calendar and Address book - what are you using and what would you
recommend?

Thanx

Strange - I'm using a 1GB card in mine, flashed with IT2007 Hacker. No
issues to report.

I've grabbed the GPE applications.

Don't forget to grab Abiword and GNUMeric if you ever work with office
docs.

I'm currently doing daily copies of my main work folder on the company
laptop to my memory card - it's much better grabbing that out of the
glovebox to work on in a cafe than it is to take a laptop bag with you.

Ok - thanx - I will take a look.

The problems I was having was that any file I put on the memory card via a
USB link from my PC (Running Windows Vista) could not be moved or deleted
from the N770. I formatted the card in the N770 and flashed a couple of time
to make sure but still had the same problem.

Oh, I was doing everything with a USB card reader.

Where did you get Abiword from?

http://www.indt.org.br/maemo/#abiword

Still can't get over what an awesome device it is - especially for 75
quid.

My Windows PDA has been officially retired.

Agreed - it is indeed amazing. I was using a HTC TyTn. Now I have my N770
and use the Ultra Slim Samsung SGH-X820 as a phone - much easier to carry
around.

Have you found a way of synchronizing the GPE calendar to Outlook?

I tried to install Abiword from this site and both Abiword itself and the
dependencies come up with "incompatible package" - any suggestions?

To reply to my own question of how to sync my Outlook Calendar with the GPE
Calendar - I have found a work around. Export Outlook Calendar to a Windows
..CSV file. Import this into Google Calendar and then export it again as an
..ICAL file. The GPE Calendar can import this. It did take about 3 minutes
from the moment I clicked import to the GPE Calendar before it finished and
I had thought it had crashed for a while!

Now if I can only get Abiword sorted out I am home and dry with a completely
functioning N770 tweaked to my exact needs!

Very odd, and I really don't know.

I wonder if the AbiWord installer is working with 'Bora' (N800 firmware)
or 'Mistral' (770 firmware) repositories? - that's all I can think of.

You may need to do a bit of googling around to find the answer.

I'm running the N800 firmware and didn't have any issues with the
installation.
