Pixmania seemed to be offering good prices on a Samsung D900 and X820 so I
ordered from them.
Firstly they do some weird "security" verification, asking you to send
them a copy of a recent utility bill or other proof of address. They don't
use the verification digits off the credit card. Thought this was a bit
odd.
Then the first of the two phones arrived. (1) The security seal had been
broken, though everything seemed to be in there. (2) It's not a UK model -
it's clearly a French model, complete with French charger, French
instructions and all. They had tossed a UK 3-pin adapter in the box, but
excuse me, I ordered from a .co.uk website which did not make it at all
plain to me that I would not get a UK product version. It's actually
buried in the depths of their FAQs, but who pores through all that before
ordering?
They do offer a 15-day money-back deal, and there was no hassle getting a
returns number, but it looks like I'll be out of pocket for the return
postage.

I was going to purchase from them, but could get the dsc-p200 sony 7.2
megapixel cybershot camera cheaper, at the time, from PCWorld, where they
were doing an 'online price' that was only £220, compared to £299 in-store.
Book one out online, go pick it up at local store. Sometimes, these things
do work out well. Web prices aren't always cheaper... pixmania are a French
company though, and source items as cheaply as possible, which means you
have to sometimes sacrifice what you're getting, in terms of
country-assosicated plugs, etc.
I have ordered two Sony Cybershot camera's from Pixmania and had no problems
with either, first one had an English charger the second a french one..they

That might make it a case for Trading Standards - it might break various
bits of legislation to sell goods for the UK market that requires an
adaptor... There may also be a requirement for english documentation for
health and safety reasons.

If you paid by credit card, try contacting them - depending on the value
of the transaction, they might be jointly liable under Sec 75 (?) of the
Consumer Credit Act

Buy anything from them and you have to fax off proof of ID to them, for
every order, not just the first time you order from them.
They are a French company with a box-shifting warehouse in London or
something to that effect. They have been around for years too.

Not with CPW or e2save. I must have bought about 10 contracts from them
over the years and never sent them any proof of ID.

I refused delivery of a TV, universal remote control and a scart cable after
I found that the TV was going to be European spec. They also took about 5
days for next day delivery. I was considering taking it until it was so
late. I also had to fax off a bank statement which delayed things by 1 day
(even though I did it straight away). It has been 42 days since they got the
stuff back and I have just managed to get my money back for the TV a few
days ago, but they still haven't refunded for the controller. They've really
pi$$ed me off.

they are a french company, based in france. all my cameras were sent from france or holland.
