Default Porting o2 to voda PAYG

I have 2 phones, one that my wife uses, both on o2 contracts which
expire at the end of March. Both bought on the 12 months free deals
from www.buymobilephones.net.

I was a couple of weeks late claiming my rebate for my phone and
naturally that invalidated the cash back, so I'm a bit wary of going
down this road again, especially since neither of us have ever used up
our monthly 350 minutes.

I'll probably take up my employer's offer of a company mobile on
Voda. If not, for me, free email to text is the big attraction with
Orange so that's the network I'd like to switch to. This feature
isn't important to my wife who doesn't SMS or even voicemail.

PAYG is probably her best bet. I expect she could keep her number and
transfer to o2 payg but since I will be on Voda or Orange then it will
cost her 40p/min to call me. This sounds like it could get expensive!

So is there any way to move from o2 contract to voda or orange payg
while keeping her number or will it mean her taking out a low cost
contract?

Consider either Tesco Mobile which uses o2's network or T-Mobile
Everyone PAYG as both offer flatrate tariffs to any UK mobile network
and standard landlines.

Tesco also offer £5 credit when porting a number in.

Voda PAYT could get messy if she is a low user as the expiry period is
180 days and she could lose her number if she isn't careful.

Just ask your o2 service provider for your PAC at the end of your
contract or 30 days before the end depending and give it to your new
provider at least 7 working days before the PAC expires. PAC's are
valid for 30 days.

Sam.

Right, good idea.

When I say a low user, I don't mean that low. There's no chance of
this happening.

Thanks for that. I was under the impression PACs were only honoured
if you were switching to a contract phone.

Was thinking about Tesco and T-Mobile when I stated 180 days, Voda was
90 days last I checked.

Makes no difference if porting a number from contract to PAYG or the
other way around as far as I am aware.

The only thing is you'll be sent a new e-topup swipe card if porting
to PAYG as the one that comes with the PAYG SIM is usually linked to
the original number assigned to the SIM.

Sam.
