Default Porting Orange payg to Voda Contract

Before I sign up for a Voda contract, I need to be sure I can port my number
from Orange payg.
I have been told that it is not possible (by the shop selling the voda
contract)
Is this true? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

AFAIK you can only port into Voda contracts at the time you sign up, so you
have to have your PAC ready. Some mobile shops just don't bother offering
ports to Voda at all. That's my experience, anyway. CMIIW

Spooks is correct, you CAN port into vodafone contract but you must
have PAC at time of connection, vodafone do not issue temporary
numbers there fore they do not allow porting AFTER connnection, they
only start billing you once number has transferred in (unlike other
networks who bill immediately on connection to temporary number)

Thanks for the clarification. Sorry , its all new to me and I have one more
question ....
It seems that none of the online places offering the Voda anytime cashback
deals on the RIZR Z3 will "accept ports onto the Vodafone network" . Does
that mean that I cannot buy from them and still port - does the port happen
when I put the sim in the phone and register with voda? Is that what is
meant by 'connection' ? Or does connection mean when I am allocated a
sim/phone from the reseller. Sorry to be dumb.

Thanks

If they are saying they dont accept port-ins then you need to shop
elsewhere. You can't get the phone and then arrange the port later
yourself with Vodafone, regardless of where you buy it.

Connection on Vodafone is when the retailer allocates you a SIM and
you sign the contract. If a retailer does not offer porting to
Vodafone then you will not be able to port a number later by any other
means.

If you want to port a number to Vodafone you will have to find a
retailer that does offer the service. A lot of the "cashback"
retailers can only offer the amounts that they do by keeping their
costs low. So they do not bother to offer a porting option as there is
a cost, however small, of the porting administration.
