Porting To Vodaphone Not Possible

Looking on RM's site for a new Cashback deal I had a look at both Cool
New Mobile and Phonebox Direct but neither of them can accept porting
to Vodaphone ( and O2 in the case of CNB.
Can anyone explain why this might be . ?

Vodafone do not allow previously ported-out vodafone numbers to port
back in. So it's easier for the retailer to avoid it altogether.

just as well they don't all adopt that policy ..

I wondered about that myself .I'll give them a call and see what their
reason is .

Utter utter rubbish.

You can port your number out and in as many times as you like,
the one thing that Vodafone do do differently to the other
networks though is that when you port to Vodafone, they don't
give you a "temporary" number.

eg, go to Vodafone store on Monday 1st, give them your pac,
do the deal, walk out with the phone, the phone wont actually
be connected until the following Monday the 7th, this is so
you don't end up paying 2 lots of line rental, all the other
networks get you connected asap so's to start earning revenue
immediately, with Voda you don't start paying until the phone
is connected.

One thing you cannot do with Vodafone is port a number in,
once the line is already connected, you have to do it at
connection unlike most of the other networks, that is very
annoying.

It used to be the case. I was not aware they had stopped that policy.

It was introduced at a time when I was still selling Vodafone, to
prevent backdoor upgrades.

I tried phoning Cool New Mobile and Phonebox Direct this morning but
they are closed for the holiday .It seems that they are one and the
same company as the menu options are exactly the same as are the
postal addresses.

When did you sell Vodafone?

I have a number that came from Vodafone in about 1999. I ported out
in 2003. In 2005 I ported back in, and out again. I did the same in
2006 - in and out again. Never had a problem.

I've just completed 5 years with Orange, so it would have been the 2.5
years before that so 2000 - 2002.

Maybe there was some time frame specified, say no port back within 90
days or something.
