Possible to use a 3 X-Series sim in a different 3G smartphone

I'd like to get X-Series working on a HTC P3600. 3 don't sell it.
Could I put the sim in it and still use all the functions, or are
these handset specific?

I have X-Series. I tink the reason for the restriction is that some of the
apps only work on specific handsets, they are selling the whole package
under the X-Series banner. After all that, if all you want to do is surf the
net from your handset then you should be fine.
