PUK for a contract phone that's now out of contract

I had a D600e on an Orange contract for a couple of years, during which
time it was unlocked to accept sims from other network providers.
Christmas last year came, so I thought the time was right to upgrade to a
new phone.

I now want to pass on the D600e, which still has lots of life left in it,
to someone else, but what do they do should they need access to a PUK
code? Will Orange still have a record, for me to get now,so that such
details can be passed on with the phone for future use? Are there any
other details that I should try to get?

The PUK is a Sim function, I guess you won't be passing the Sim on?

Do you mean the phones security code?

You guess right, the phone will be passed on sim free. So it is the
phone security codes that I am worried about. Are these details held
anywhere?

Did you change it from the default code?

Anyway if you did it's possible the manufacturer can supply you on
proof of ownership, and the phones IMEI, the "master security code"
for it which will override it

Phones dont have PUK codes, SIM cards do.
