Purporting to offer free calls...

I got a text with the sender identified as Free Calls (so obviously googling
the sender is of no use), with the message "Use your Orange cross network
inclusive minutes to call IRELAND for FREE, dial 07987909017 anytime. Try it
now."

The sender is obviously aware that I make calls to Ireland, I do use my
inclusive minutes calling www.18185.co.uk (no connection - pardon the pun -
to them) to do this at the moment for 2p a minute which I find very
reasonable, so the message is probably connected to them in some way.

Can anyone think of any pitfalls I may encounter trying this new number?

Sounds like Spam to me. The result of your provider irresponsibly
selling your contact details to spammers, and even worse, giving them
access to information as to your usage patterns. May well even be bait
just to induce you to make a call. Sender = Free Calls??? What *are*
these people like? Park up on your 2p/minute, man.

I looked the number up on PhonePayPlus (formerly ICSTIS).

This is what we know about the number you entered (07987909017).

PhonepayPlus does not regulate this type of number. However we can tell you
the following.
a.. This is classified as being used for Mobile services.
b.. It is provided by T-Mobile (UK) Limited.
Anything more I can find out about them without ringing it?
