Phoned Vodafone last night. No problem to cancel so long as I pay the
remaining 2 months. It works out at £40 if I cancel now which isn't so
bad. Very nice people on the phone.

Customer service from hell - they expect you to pay even when they are
unable to provide service. Glad you enjoyed your experience. :-)
